The Bauchi State government has emphasized the importance of human capital development in its governance agenda, recognizing it as a crucial factor in driving economic growth and prosperity.
This was highlighted by Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, Chairman of the State Steering Council on Human Capital Development, recently at a stakeholder sensitization workshop.

Jatau stressed that human resource is essential for national development, and the state government is committed to investing in critical sectors like education, health, and labor participation.
He disclosed that the government has already established a Human Capital Development Council and Technical Working Group to oversee the program.

Hon. Jatau stressed that the workshop marks a significant step towards developing a comprehensive roadmap for human capital development in Bauchi State, noting that investing in people is not only a social responsibility but also a key driver of economic growth and poverty reduction.
“Bauchi State Government appreciates the Federal Government’s efforts, led by the Vice President’s office, to support sub-national human capital development initiatives. The state government also acknowledges international partners, including ECOWAS, for their support”.
“The State Government is working on finalizing a Human Capital Development document to achieve its objectives. With the extension of Human Development councils to local government levels, the government is poised to drive meaningful development and improve the lives of its citizens”, revealed Jatau.

According to him, in line with the governance structure of the Human Capital Development 2.0, Bauchi State has already constituted and inaugurated its Human Capital Development Council and the Technical Working Group.
He emphasised that the success recorded so far can only be consolidated through the development of a robust State Human capital Strategy document.

He pointed out that the sensitization activity was a significant milestone towards the development of a comprehensive road map of human capital resource in Bauchi State.
On his part, the Focal Person of the Programme and Chief Economic Adviser to the State Governor, Yahuza Adamu appreciated partners particularly ECOWAS for including Bauchi among the 12 states benefiting from its grant and promised effective implementation for significant investments in education, healthcare, and labour force participation.

The Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination, Jibrin Mohammed Yusuf said the state government is working on coming up with Human Capital Development document in order to achieve the desired objectives.
