As part of activities marking the International Day of the Girl Child, a media based non profit organisation, Journalists for Public Health and Development Initiative (J4PD) has distributed learning materials to over 50 schoolgirls at Barangada Primary School in Bauchi.

Speaking at the event on Tuesday, the Executive Director of J4PD, Ms. Elizabeth Car, said the gesture aligns with the organization’s commitment to promoting girl-child education and encouraging parents to enroll and retain their daughters in school.

Mrs. Car emphasized that education remains a vital tool for national development, calling on parents, community leaders, and stakeholders to provide equal learning opportunities for girls to realize their full potential.

Delivering goodwill messages, Haruna Shuaibu Imam highlighted the transformative power of education in shaping the future of young girls, while Muhammad Adam Jibrin, Chairman of the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC), pledged continued community support for girl-child education.

On his part, the traditional ruler of Barangada ta ƙasa, Alhaji Sa’idu Gambo, lamented the poor condition of the school, citing inadequate furniture, lack of water and electricity, and dilapidated classrooms as major challenges affecting learning.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA), Abdullahi Hayatu Sambo, commended J4PD for selecting the school, noting that the visit would inspire both pupils and parents.
