As part of its commitment to enhancing women’s peace and security, ASHH Foundation organized a two-day refresher training for 90 community peace mediators in Bauchi State.
The training, held on June 28-29, 2024, brought together 50 mediators and 40 women from the Kafin Madaki and Miri communities in Ganjuwa and Bauchi LGAs.
The training aimed to enhance the skills of community peace mediators, empower women in peace mediation, and foster unity among diverse community groups.
Interactive sessions covered conflict analysis, resolution techniques, gender-sensitive mediation, and case studies.
Facilitator Hajiya Jamile Sule emphasized inclusive conflict resolution approaches, while Sule Joseph, representing the Executive Director, Mrs Comfort Attah highlighted the importance of impeccable character in mediation.
Participants expressed increased confidence and competence in conflict resolution, praising the role-playing exercises.They pledged to discharge their mediation duties fairly and unbiasedly.
The training was made possible through funding from Women for Women International, demonstrating their commitment to empowering communities and strengthening conflict resolution skills.
This initiative underscores ASHH Foundation’s dedication to inclusivity, women’s peace, and security, addressing prevention, protection, and participation in decision-making.
