A three-day free medical outreach programme by the Global Medaccess Foundation (GMAF) has commenced in Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State, targeting vulnerable groups including pregnant women, school children and orphans.
A news story monitored by our correspondent in the Globe FM online platform said, the outreach, which began in Ajili, Dabji and Sirko communities, is aimed at improving access to essential healthcare services and supporting basic educational needs within underserved populations.
During the exercise, pregnant women in their first and second trimesters received vital medications such as Fersolate, folic acid, calcium lactate and other supplements, while those in advanced stages of pregnancy were additionally provided with delivery kits. Children also benefited from the initiative through the distribution of exercise books and pencils to support their education. The outreach team offered free medical consultations, documented patient records, administered treatment and referred critical cases to appropriate health facilities.
Team Lead of the programme, Mr. Mbico Modu, explained that the intervention is supported by the Turakin Walin Gabas of Misau, Dr. Umar Ahmad, and aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in line with the agenda of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate.
Launching the initiative, the Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Sulaiman, described the outreach as timely and impactful, pledging the Emirate’s support for its success while commending the organisers for their commitment to community welfare.
