Bauchi State is set to commence the March 2026 round of Supplemental Immunisation Plus Days (SIPDs) across its 20 Local Government Areas, as health authorities intensify efforts to protect children against vaccine-preventable diseases.
The Incident Manager of the State Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), Dr. Sufyan Ahmed, disclosed this on Friday while briefing health reporters at the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board (BASPHCDB).
He said the state has achieved a high level of preparedness, with all refresher trainings conducted at both state and LGA levels, and adequate vaccine supplies secured for the exercise, including mop-up activities.
Dr. Ahmed explained that although the campaign was initially scheduled to commence earlier, it was postponed due to the Eid el-Fitr celebrations. He assured that the rescheduled exercise will now proceed as planned, with necessary adjustments already in place.
He further noted that the Directly Observed Polio Vaccination (DOPV), which typically precedes the SIPDs, will be conducted concurrently during the mop-up phase immediately after the main implementation.
According to him, trained house-to-house and mobile teams have been fully deployed to ensure that all eligible children are reached during the campaign.
The EOC Incident Manager expressed appreciation to development partners for their continued support and called on journalists to play an active role in community sensitisation by widely publicising the campaign’s commencement on Monday.
