The Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA) has begun drafting its 2026 Annual Operational Plan (AOP) as part of efforts to align the agency’s activities with the state’s 2026 fiscal framework and health priorities.

The three-day development meeting, which runs from Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31, 2025, brings together representatives from all directorates of the agency.
In his opening remarks, BASHCMA Executive Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa Duguri (Yariman Yankari), urged participants to make meaningful contributions that would result in a realistic, actionable, and inclusive roadmap for the coming year.

He cautioned the senior staff against introducing unrealistic activities or inflated costings into the plan, warning that such practices could weaken the agency’s performance during review sessions. Duguri, however, expressed optimism that the exercise would produce a standard 2026 AOP consistent with the state’s fiscal projections.

Also speaking, the State Deputy Desk Officer of the Federal Government’s newly launched Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp) initiative for healthcare, Pharmacist Ibrahim Muhammad, reminded participants to align their deliberations with the National Health Sector Strategic Blueprint (HSSB) 2023–2027. He explained that the HSSB provides a nationwide framework to strengthen institutional mandates and improve the performance of the health sector.

Earlier, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics (DPRS) of BASHCMA, Hajiya Rahmatu Haruna, noted that the objective of the meeting was to collaboratively design the 2026 AOP in line with the agency’s strategic goals, Bauchi State health priorities, and the national SWAp initiative.

The meeting also featured a goodwill message from Mr. Jinjiri John Garba, who represented civil society organizations in Bauchi State.
