Red Cross Provides Relief to 2000 Flood Victims in Bauchi

The British Red Cross and the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Bauchi State Branch, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, distributed essential materials to over 2,000 community beneficiaries in Kirfi Local Government Area, hard hit by recurring flood disasters.

The items distributed included rain boots, torchlights, life jackets, and chlorine, aimed at enhancing the community’s capacity to respond to flood emergencies and strengthening early warning systems.

Alhaji Aminu Abubakar, State Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, highlighted the organization’s efforts in training volunteers to detect early signs of flooding. He commended the state government for its support to flood victims and assured that the Red Cross would continue to complement government initiatives in alleviating the suffering of affected residents.

Hajiya Adama Ibrahim, representing State Commissioner for Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, praised the Nigerian Red Cross for the intervention and pledged the ministry’s ongoing support to affected communities, as contained in a press statement by the information officer of the ministry, Adama Ibrahim.

Malam Auwal Ahmad Cheledi, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, promised to utilize the materials effectively in combating flood disasters in the area. “With this support, the community is better equipped to respond to emergencies and mitigate the impact of future floods,

” he said.
