Bauchi HCD Working Group Reviews Progress on State Strategic Plan

By Bashir Hassan Abubakar

The Bauchi State Technical Working Group (TWG) on Human Capital Development (HCD) has reviewed its progress toward the formulation of a comprehensive Human Capital Development Strategic Plan for the state.

The review meeting, held on Thursday in Bauchi, brought together key stakeholders from the thematic areas of health, education, labour, child development, gender, social welfare and other critical sectors.

The session provided an opportunity for members of the TWG and its subcommittees to evaluate the work completed so far and identify areas requiring further input to strengthen the draft document.

The strategic plan aims to harness and maximise Bauchi State’s human capital potential through coordinated, sector-driven interventions.

Chairman of the TWG and HCD State Focal Person, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu (Ajiyan Ningi), commended members for the dedication they have demonstrated in developing the plan. He noted, however, that additional work is needed to ensure the document fully reflects the state’s priorities and aspirations for human capital growth.

Alhaji Adamu, who also serves as Chief Economic Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed, explained that the proposed strategic plan will outline clear objectives, interventions, and implementation timelines to guide the state’s HCD agenda. He expressed confidence that the group’s commitment will result in a robust and actionable blueprint.

“I am optimistic that, with the level of commitment demonstrated, the state will produce a sound strategic plan that will facilitate the successful implementation of the HCD programme in Bauchi State,” he said.

He further revealed that Governor Bala Mohammed has given full backing to the activities of the TWG, a gesture he described as crucial to the programme’s success.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by members to engage relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to gather additional data to enrich the final strategic plan.
