Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) recently conducted a Soft Skills and Employability Training Program for 900 female students at its Yuli and Gadau campuses. This initiative was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Centre of SAZU, in collaboration with Jobberman and Giwo Agro, with funding from the Master Card Foundation.
The selected female students, comprising 300-level and 400-level students from various academic departments, participated in the training program designed to equip them with essential skills for success in their future careers.
Professor Fatimah Tahir, Vice Chancellor of Sa’adu Zungur University, addressed the participants, stating, “It is imperative that graduates possess additional value-added skills to enhance their employability.”
Represented by Dr. Salisu Ibrahim Waziri, Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, the Vice Chancellor stressed the significance of diverse skills for the students’ future success.
Professor Tahir urged the participants to capitalize on this opportunity, which was provided free of charge by Jobberman and Giwo Agro under the Master Card Foundation initiative. She noted that the knowledge gained from the training would have a profound generational impact, not only on the students but also on society at large, citing the adage that “educating a woman is educating society.”
The Soft Skills Training Program encompassed key areas such as public speaking techniques, CV writing, grant proposal writing, business proposal skills, and ICT.
Malam Ibrahim Aminu Tahir, Lead Consultant at Giwo Agro, stated that the training, which focused on employability, would provide the participants with the necessary expertise to secure employment upon graduation.
A total of 600 female students from the Gadau Campus and 300 from the Yuli Campus, all from 300 and 400 levels, participated in the training program. A similar training initiative is scheduled to be conducted for the Misau campus.
