The Wife of the Bauchi State Governor, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, has called for a stronger community support towards combating gender-based violence (GBV) in Bauchi State and the Nation at large.
The First Lady also praised media organisations and other stakeholders for their contributions in checkmating the scourge of GBV in the state.

Speaking during a media interaction at the Government House in Bauchi, the First Lady described the media as a vital partner in the campaign to protect vulnerable groups and ensure justice for survivors of abuse.
Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, who also chairs the State Action Committee on Gender-Based Violence, stressed that the influence of the media in creating awareness and shaping public opinion remains critical in addressing the menace.

She disclosed that the committee was finalising plans to embark on a statewide sensitisation campaign aimed at educating communities on the dangers and consequences of GBV.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed on GBV, Sha’awanatu Yusuf, revealed that the committee has recorded 218 cases since its inauguration in 2020.

According to her, the cases include domestic violence, family disputes, rape, and abduction, among others. She added that several serious cases had been prosecuted successfully in court, with judgments delivered in favour of survivors.
